"Internet Researcher"
Something special inside.
I know it’s been a minute since I have been on here, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has stuck around and all of the new readers (esp the paid). It’s crazy that over 1000 of you have subscribed. Truly, thank you! I have a special surprise in the letter <3 Btw nothing in this letter is sponsored, gifted or affiliated.
Okay, first let’s start with the obvious, I’ve changed the name of the newsletter from Inter-work to Internet Researcher.
I’ve spent over a decade using taste and cultural relevance as literal currency in my career, since I dropped out of high school. I had no other choice but to become a self proclaimed “Internet Researcher” So for whatever reason you are here. Consider it our shared identity now.
Every Thursday moving forward, (timing may shift as I bounce between PST and EST) I will be writing more pieces like Taste is Currency: The $20 Aesop Bottle, deep dives into how online behavior shapes culture, taste-driven observations, and commentary that actually resonates.
And with all that said…I started thinking…what does every Internet Researcher need this holiday season? Wait…before I lose you and you roll your eyes..at “another gift guide” just hang in there….there is a special surprise.
(1) Vintage Cigarette Case (not promoting smoking, you can also use it as a wallet) (2) FeedMe Merch Tee (3) Internet Researcher Dad Hat (4) Margin Eau De Parfum Atomizer Veridian 10ml (5) Wired Headphones (6) Uniqlo hoodie (8) Amiacalva Tote Bag (9) Ways of Seeing Book (10) Aesop Hand Sanitizer (11) Portal Gloves (12) GC to Criteroin
I don’t know about you but I always feel like I am forgetting something or I just wish I had the perfect dad hat (sorry, I had to mention our Internet Researcher hat again). A great idea for this person in your life, create an “off-site work session” survival kit. Think all of the above, filled with essentials like mints, pens, and a notebook. And for anyone running their own thing, custom stationery or a laptop skin with their logo is such a good gift.
(1) Dotdotdot Substack (2) Create them an Are.na board to help with inspiration or just an Annual Subscription to Are.na (3) Sage Stress Relief Roll on (4) The Dark Forest Book (5) The Internet Phonebook (6) Snoopy Mug (7) Brick (8) Red Light Therapy Masks (9) Noon Focus Gummies (10) Stone Fruit Earrings (11) Necessarie Lip Balm (12) Celise Nail Set (13) Cleaver Keyboard (14) Comme Si Socks (15) Premium Subscription to Sublime.app - this I think every creative needs
Okay, tell me why we all know this feeling right now. Q4 is lightly put…a bitch, no matter what industry you’re in. We’re all just trying to survive. The list above is a mix of inspiration and balance for those cram sessions.
(1) Acupressure Mat Set (2) Rummage Stretch Tee (3) Five Finger Shoes (4) Paris Review Subscription (5) Soar Sunglasses (6) GC for a facial (7) Weighted Vest (8) Cozy Quilt (9) Usal Sweatpants (10) Marin Vase (11) Norden Ceramic Candles (12) Colbo Tote (13) Lazy Skincare (14) Hard Sun Sunscreen
Oh, the joy of staring at your computer and realizing you haven’t moved a limb all day, except to top up your coffee or (in my case) sneak out for a smoke. Honestly, I made this list a bit for myself, because I’m gifting myself most of these things this year. The acupressure mat is a must, and I’m off to Toronto on Monday with a Formula Fig facial already booked. So yes, here are some great ideas for the person who works too hard and is basically glued to their laptop 24/7.
Before I get into the surprise, I just have to say, I wish Substack Team introduced some sort of gifting subscription pack or a cute digital gift card. Anyways, here are some of the Substack’s that I think are worth your money to gift a subscription to-I’ve mentioned a few above already but just to consolidate everything in one section.
The Curiosity Department, ART DIRECTION, Dot Dot Dot , laura reilly, Laid Off The Sociology of Business, Feed Me, Liana Satenstein, CONTENT, Link in Bio, False Start, Fixated, trademarked (I love the chat here), charli xcx, No Crumbs, The Sublime
SURPRISE!!!
Alright, here’s the deal. I’m putting together a prize pack with gifts pulled from each section above, and I will be gifting it to one lucky winner before the holidays.
Rules? Easy, if you are reading this email, you’re already in (but only if you are a subscriber) If you like, comment, or re-stack this post, each of those counts as an extra entry. Winner will be picked on Friday, November 28th at 12:00 AM EST-I will be emailing the winner directly, from katrina@nobodyknowsstudio.com so be sure to keep an eye out on spam as well please.
Honestly, this is just my way of saying thank you. I’ve officially been on Substack for a full year, and this little giveaway is my way of celebrating with you.
Happy Holidays everyone <3
See you next Thursday (I PROMISE)
